HOSTS: Helping One Student to Succeed

The MSD of Wayne Township’s HOSTS program is focused on helping third and fourth grade students in reading. Mentors come to HOSTS one hour a week and work with the same students for 30 minutes. All the materials are prepared for the mentor, and the HOSTS teacher is always with the mentors during HOSTS to support and assist them.

Mentor qualifications:
A desire to help a child

Time required:
One hour a week

Schedule:
3rd Grade from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday

4th Grade from 1:30 – 2:30 p.. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday

Training:
HOSTS mentors are asked to attend a training session to acquaint them with the HOSTS program and the materials that are used. The HOSTS teacher is always available during the mentoring session to assist the volunteers.
